Katarina Chang
Graduate Student, Molecular Medicine, Ph.D. Candidate
ktchang@som.umaryland.edu
Research
Katarina’s dissertation research focuses on the mechanism of cytoskeletal rearrangement and mechano-response of breast cancer cells in response to intracellular and extracellular calcium signaling. Determining the functions of breast tumor cell microtentacles in response to changes in cytoplasmic calcium concentrations to better understand breast cancer metastasis and tumor progression. Testing how altered cytoplasmic calcium affects the mechanoresponsiveness of breast epithelial and breast tumor cells to better understand how the mechano-microenvironment impacts tumor progression.
