Research

David’s research focuses on the Melanoma Cell Adhesion Molecule(MCAM) gene and the impact of this gene in breast epithelial cells in relation to tmetastasis and EMT. Many breast cancer cell lines have been used to study the effects of MCAM but using MCF10A and MCF10A variants, made in the Martin Lab, gives a unique angle of understanding the impact of MCAM on the metastatic potential of basal-like breast cells with stepwise mutations that further tumorigenicity. His research also focuses on 5-Aza-dC, a demethylating chemotherapeutic, that seems to increase expression of MCAM and the impact of this drug treatment on 10A and 10A variant cell lines.
